I’m 65. I started HRT less than a month ago and it’s a freaking miracle. I’m very happy, yet I lost 25 years post menopause when I could have had a far better quality of life. I was offered statins, Xanax, anti depressants, pain meds, etc etc…but NEVER HRT!

Thanks for another good video. I am a perimenopausal someone who needs progesterone (per DUTCH), but seem to have progesterone intolerance, as I have chronic fatigue for the last 5 years, and progesterone makes my fatigue so, so, so much worse, to where I can't get through my work days when I take it (whether cream/topical/intravaginal/oral/SR/IR/morning/evening). It's frustrating.

I had complete hysterectomy at age 33. I’m now 67. They put me on estrogen pills right away and when I hit 50’s doctors told me I needed to get off. But I wouldn’t. I was taking 1/2 of 1 mg daily. I suffered from UTI’s since age 16. So a doctor switched me to compounded estrogen cream vaginally twice a week 2 yrs ago. That stopped the UTI’s Then I learned of Dr John Lees books on menopause, progesterone, so now at 67 I have added compounded progesterone cream rubbed under arms. My hormone saliva test showed very low progesterone & testosterone, but estrogen was in the middle of where it should be. I was told I was estrogen dominant, cause of my round apple belly. So needed progesterone to balance it all out. So we shall see what happens. I still use estrogen cream vaginally once a week

I take estradiol and prometrium 100mg but took a test and my estradiol level high and progesterone low inspite of taking hormones. I was having breakthrough mucus that look like blood shed. Can you tell me what that could be. I’m still struggling with anxiety and insomnia. I wake up early every day still. I thought the hormones would help with sleep. Any suggestions?

I just saw this video . I just stopped HRT I was on the patch (half) and 100mg of progesterone every other to start. And I felt so awful. I had headaches and dizziness the worst stomach pain and acid reflux . I felt groggy and thought I was losing my mind. Anxiety was worse and so depressed. I did better with out it. I stopped it and I’m slowly getting back to normal. It really scared me. I think will not continue with hrt which makes me sad.

Yep. The sleep issue is HUGE. Perhaps the most dangerous and destructive overall. I sometimes wouldn’t sleep at all. Zip. Or just 2-3 hours. Rarely, once or twice a year, would sleep 6-7 hours. After starting progesterone I sleep 7 hours.

Progesterone is the hormone of PMS so therefore anxiety, depression, bloating, & all other mood swings that are symptoms of PMS are not progesterone intolerance they are the result of progesterone replacement.

Thank you Steve for another informative video! I’d like to share a very recent and interesting discovery about oral Progesterone because this isn’t talked about much. I found that “slow” release compounded oral progesterone helps me sleep compared to a “fast” release formula like Prometrium. I’ve worked up to 100 mg at bedtime and 100 mg when I wake up at 1-2am. I am now getting a total of 6 hours deep quality sleep rather than that typical 2-3 hours of stressful sleep. Since I’ve only been doing a higher progesterone protocol (using 2 different delivery methods) for a couple of weeks, I’m hoping in time my total sleep time will improve even more as the progesterone continues its calming effect. And here I thought I had an intolerance to oral progesterone because when I started bHRT a year ago, it would intensify my anxiety especially in the middle of the night. It was a very scary experience. Hoping my discovery can help others too.

CAC's do NOT tell the entire story. The plaque shown is on the OUTSIDE of the arteries in a CAC test.....not necessarily what's on the inside diameters where the blood flows. My score was a whopping 2000 yet my heart cath showed that I only have 20-30% narrowing in certain places. No stents or other action was needed. (65 years old) A heart cath is the only way you really know what's going on with your heart arteries, period. By the way, my cholesterol numbers have been completely normal forever.

Well I don't want to sign up for anything. I was hoping since U deal with doctors all the time maybe just maybe U have heard of a hormone doctor in Santa Monica,Ca that can help a woman over 80ty yrs. old find an OBGYN doctors who does hormone replacement for someone like that! Have been searching for someone who is GOOD at getting the hormones right for each person's body. Probably NOT gonna accept Medicare, but we wish to search for someone who can help us. Thanks. If U can suggest some doctors we can research them ourselves. We don't want to travel out of state for on going care. Too stressful.. If U could leave someone's name here we would greatly appreciate it. We don't have the time or energy do your solutions thing. Not our cup of tea. So sorry about that. We wish to spend our money on hormones since we will have to borrow it for that. We R very very poor. We try to live on $1,000 a mo. in Santa Monica,Ca. Not any extra funds for anything. No clothes, no nothing but bills. Turned off the gas also. Down to some electricity, rent, food & gas for the very old car.. Thanks it! No fancy coffees, no dinners out, no movies & no events! Not even cable TV! It sucks, but we R not in debt!

I feel tired and dizzy/drunk most of the day and have body aches, headaches and just overall don't feel present most of the time. Well can U suggest someone in Santa Monica,Ca. who does hormones right? I am worried my insurance would not cover them, but feel I need to try some to see if I can get rid of insulin resistance, bone issues & other problems like trouble sleeping well, peeing 4 times a night which ruins my quality if sleep & lots more issues.. Of course I am worried about the plaque in my carotid artery now... I still think hormones might fix problems I am having before they R so bad I can't take care of me alone anymore.!

I'm well past menopause, but have so many of the symptoms U mentioned here. Docs say don't do it because it can cause a heart attack. I feel taking a low dose with a patch might B a safer way to do some hormones. I already take DHEA, Wild Yam & Pregneonone. I am sad to not take compounded hormones & scared to take them with my heart issues.. Maybe I can try some as a patch at a safe level. I am in Santa Monica,Ca.

2:00 salmon never was a common fish in the Mediterranean sea; 2:14 avocado is a tropical tree, not a mediterranean tree. Nowadays, it's cultivated around the Mediterranean, but needs a lot of watering in summer 2:23 macadamia nut is from Australia 2:33 cacao comes from Africa, and was no part of any mediterranean diet before WWII ah, yes, I agree, olives and olive oil are indeed traditionnal mediterreanean food 😅

I guess if your point is to pick apart the technical definition of “Mediterranean,” knock yourself out. I eat a lot of salmon, avocados, a moderate amount of chocolate, and some macadamia nuts. If those don’t originate from the Mediterranean, I don’t really care. MY point is that they taste great AND they’re excellent for my health.

The detail that you went into about those women and the health initiative I haven't seen anywhere. Thank you for that. I am livid. Also having surgical menopause at 48 years old I was told I don't need it. My body will still make it somehow someway. These doctors are told what they can do and what they can't do. It's really frustrating. So here I am 68 years old still not on any hormone replacement except for some vaginal cream for bladder health, I thank God I had to scream to get that I don't know if this video came out at the same time that the 10 million women over 60 study was released in April 2024. That is what I have myself armed with to go to my doctor with and try to get them to start helping me .

You also might want to take a look at this video, which explains how many women have died after being told they don't need hormones after a hysterectomy. ua-cam.com/video/oKSVIe66TNw/v-deo.html

I suffer from extreme crippling panic and anxiety after being on estradiol only for 2 yrs (no uterus so told didn’t need it)..for much of that time I did ok, but at age 52, fell to pieces mentally…bad dreams, feeling hot in the head, then extreme anxiety. I feel like not using progesterone could be a cause? But, the 100mg capsules hit me like a freight train..am so dizzy, nausea, almost passing out. What to do don’t know. I can sleep, but the anxiety never leaves.

@tracykharp So sorry it's been rough after hysterectomy. It's my firm belief that having a hysterectomy should NOT prevent you from taking progesterone. There are definitely some side effects and that's something to work through. Here's another video that explains a bit more about progesterone side effects. ua-cam.com/video/cAISF62hW3s/v-deo.html

    Ladies, try ReMag and ReMyte.

Just so you're aware . . . ReMag and ReMyte are magnesium and mineral supplements. Nothing wrong with those and maybe (?) they'll help . . . but they don't necessarily treat the root problem of hormone deficiency.

I have been taking HRT for about 3 weeks, including 100mg Prometrium. I have been sleeping great, but do find that I seem to get really tired during the day now, have bloating and I feel like I’m having hypoglycemic episodes (get weak, shaky) until I eat something. Wondering if I just need lower dosage? I’m petite (only weigh about 100lbs), and have had issues with other drugs in the past being too strong for me.

@eftinga Those sife effects are common. Bloating is a problem because of the action of progesterone on the gut. Daytime drowsiness usually gets better as your body gets used to progesterone. You might try taking it earlier in the evening, so the main drowsy side effect wears off by morning.
